Phase 10 — Ongoing Operations · OpenFrame Onboarding

Keeping the platform healthy includes keeping the account in good standing. This guide covers what billing governs in OpenFrame, who can manage it, and where to go for plan and invoice questions.

Who manages billing

Billing and subscription are Owner-level responsibilities. The workspace Owner (the account creator — see Phase 9) is the one with access to plan and payment settings. Admins, including most technicians, won't see billing controls in their console — that's by design, so day-to-day operators can run the platform without touching the commercial account.

If you're an Admin and need a plan change or an invoice, route it to whoever holds the Owner role on your workspace rather than looking for a billing screen that isn't there for you.

What a subscription covers

Your OpenFrame plan typically governs:

  • Plan tier — which capabilities and limits your workspace has.
  • Scale — how many devices/endpoints and team seats you're entitled to. As you onboard more clients and machines (Phase 2), this is the number that grows.
  • Invoices & payment — your billing history and the payment method on file.

Because OpenFrame is built on an open-source core, the exact commercial terms depend on how you're running it — Flamingo's managed/commercial offering versus a self-hosted deployment. What you see (and whether you see billing in-app at all) follows from that.

Keeping it healthy

  • Watch your scale headroom. If you're deploying at scale, make sure your device/seat entitlement keeps pace so onboarding doesn't stall.
  • Keep payment current. A lapsed payment method is an avoidable interruption — the Owner should keep it up to date.
  • Review invoices periodically. Reconcile what you're billed for against the devices and seats you're actually using.

Getting plan or invoice help

For a plan change, an invoice copy, or a billing question, contact your Owner first; if it needs to go further, reach out to your Flamingo/OpenFrame account contact. Have your workspace name and the specific request ready.

Quick checklist

  • Confirmed billing is an Owner responsibility (Admins won't see it)
  • Understood what the subscription covers: tier, device/seat scale, invoices
  • Checked you have headroom for ongoing device onboarding
  • Routed any plan/invoice request through the Owner / account contact

What's next

That completes Phase 10 — Ongoing Operations, and with it the full onboarding journey: from first sign-in through deployment, monitoring, automation, tickets, remote access, integrations, security, and day-to-day operations. Revisit any phase from the catalog whenever you need a refresher.

Based on OpenFrame v0.9.19. Billing surfaces and plan structures depend on your deployment and commercial agreement, and evolve over time — your Owner account and Flamingo contact are the source of truth.

Now it’s time to dive into the world of MSPs and find myself in this new world.
